A gubernatorial election was held on 7 April 2019 to elect the Governor of Hokkaido Prefecture.

- Tomohiro Ishikawa, back by the opposition parties CDP, JCP, SDP, DPFP - former member of the House of Representatives.
- Naomichi Suzuki back by LDP and Komeito - former mayor of Yūbari, Hokkaido

- Seiji Osaka - member of the House of Representatives[1][2]
- Noriyuki Satō (broadcaster) - broadcaster[3]
- Iehiro Tokugawa - 19th head of the Tokugawa clan[4]
- Akihiro Izumi - director of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Hokkaido Bureau.[5][6]
- Seiko Hashimoto - member of the House of Councillors[7]
