Octavian Armașu (born 29 June 1969 in Chișinău, USSR) is a Moldovan politician who currently serves as Minister of Finances of Moldova since January 2016[1], succeeding Anatol Arapu at this post. On 30 November 2018 he became the head of the National Bank of Moldova, succeeding Sergiu Cioclea at this post.

Previously, Armașu worked since 1996 in the private economics sector, at a few companies in Moldova.[2]

Octavian Armașu is married and has two children.
Controversies
On 30 September 2016, a Moldovan civic activist, Andrei Donică, spilled a bucket of milk over Octavian Armașu, reproaching him the actions done by the government in case of $1 billion fraud.[3][4] After this incident Donică was detained by the police. According to the law, a criminal case for hooliganism was initiated on Donica's behalf, in case of guilty he may be fined or even up to 3 years in prison.[5]
