The Bust of Lenin is a sculptural portrait of Vladimir Lenin, erected in 1978 in front of the city administration building in the town of Taganrog, Russia.[1] It is erected on a granite plinth, which had to be repaired due to it crumbling. This was notable due to the local administration's use of ordinary Scotch tape to hold it together, causing much amusement in the town.
The monument
The Bust of Lenin is contemporaneous with the building of the Taganrog city administration, located at Petrovskaya St. Sculptor is Plenkin. The architect is Cerkovnikov.[2]
History
In the February 2014 it was announced that the urban planning committee and the main architect Olga Scherbakova had reached a preliminary decision about erecting a commemorative monument to the "City of Military Glory" on the site, putting into question the future of the Lenin bust.
In August 2014, the bust made headlines in the local press due to the authorities using stationery scotch to repair the granite slabs on the pedestal.
