Mariya Stadnik (Ukrainian: Марія Василівна Стадник; Mariya Vasylivna Stadnyk; born 3 June 1988) is a Ukrainian (until 2007)[1] and Azerbaijani (since 2007) female wrestler. She is a three-time Olympic medalist.

Personal life

Stadnik was born on 3 June 1988 in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. She is married to Ukrainian wrestler Andriy Stadnik. Her sister-in-law, Yana Rattigan, competes in the same weight category as Mariya.

Career

In 2006, Stadnik was disqualified for a period of one year for failing a doping test in 2006.[1]

Competing in the freestyle – 48 kg weight class, she won gold at the 2008 European Championships in Tampere and bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.[2]

Stadnik went on to win gold at the 2009 European Championships in Vilnius, the 2009 World Championships in Herning,the 2019 World Championships in Nur-Sultan , and the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she was awarded the silver medal.[3]

She won silver at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[4]
