Over the Moon is an upcoming 2020 computer-animated adventure musical comedy film directed by Glen Keane and co-directed by John Kahrs. The film is produced by Pearl Studio with animation by Sony Pictures Imageworks. The film was set to be released on Netflix in 2020.

Plot

A girl named Fei Fei builds and flies a rocket ship to meet the moon goddess, Chang'e.

Production

Development

On September 26, 2017, Pearl Studio hired Audrey Wells to write the script Over the Moon, a retelling of the classic Chinese myth.^[1] On February 6, 2018, Netflix acquired distribution rights to the film and Glen Keane was set to direct.^[2] However, during this, Audrey Wells passed away in 2018, making this her final film to work on.

Animation

Animation will be provided by Sony Pictures Imageworks while traditional animation is being handled.^[3]

Music

Steven Price is confirmed to be the film's composer while new original songs are being handled by Christopher Curtis (from Chaplin: The Musical), Marjorie Duffield and Helen Park (from KPOP the Musical).^[4]

Release

The film will be released on Netflix in late 2020.^[5]
