Rhynchoedura, also known as the beaked geckos, is a genus of lizards in the family Diplodactylidae endemic to Australia. It includes six species:[1]
The genus was regarded as monotypic, a single species named as Rhynchoedura ornata by Albert Günther in 1867. A second species was described in 1985, without widespread recognition, and in 2011 an extensive revision sampling the population across Australia found cryptic species and named four new taxa.[2]
- Rhynchoedura angusta Pepper, Doughty, Hutchinson, & Keough, 2011 (border beaked gecko)
- Rhynchoedura eyrensis Pepper, Doughty, Hutchinson, & Keough, 2011 (Eyre Basin beaked gecko)
- Rhynchoedura mentalis Pepper, Doughty, Hutchinson, & Keough, 2011 (Brigalow beaked gecko)
- Rhynchoedura ormsbyi Wells & Wellington, 1985 (eastern beaked gecko)
- Rhynchoedura ornata Günther, 1867 (western beaked gecko)
- Rhynchoedura sexapora Pepper, Doughty, Hutchinson, & Keough, 2011 (northern beaked gecko)
