Colombia is one of the largest music markets in Latin America. The majority of the albums are from local artists. Colombian artists dominate the list with seventeen entries of the twenty best selling albums in Colombia. One artist from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and the United States each complete the list. Four artists - Carlos Vives, Diomedes Díaz, Juancho Rois and Shakira - appear more than once in the list. Carlos Vives tops the list with Clásicos de la Provincia, which sold approximately 1.2 million copies in the country.
