The Ballarat Rush are an Australian basketball team based in Ballarat, Victoria. The Rush compete in the Women's NBL1 and play their home games at the MARS Minerdome. The team is affiliated with Ballarat Basketball Association, the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. For sponsorship reasons, they are known as the Ballarat Skoda Rush.
Team history
Ballarat's top level women's basketball team was branded the Lady Miners since it entered the Victorian championship in 1984. It first joined the SEABL in 1990 and again in 2003. Over the following eight years, the team made the playoffs five times, winning the title in 2005. The Lady Miners were amalgamated with the Ballarat Miners in 2003 in order to be administered with the Miners under the one Ballarat Basketball Association.[1]
In February 2011, the Lady Miners were renamed the Ballarat Rush.[1][2]
Following the postponement of the 2020 NBL1 South season due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Rush withdrew from any involvement in the 2020 season.[3]
