Maytenus robusta,[2] known in Brazil as cafezinho do mato or coração de bugre) is a species of plant in the family Celastraceae. It is endemic to Brazil.
M. Robusta is used in folk medicine to treat gastric ulcers.[3][4][5] One study found that M. robusta has ulcer healing properties, mainly through the strengthening of protective factors of the gastric mucosa, such as mucus layer, antioxidant defenses and cell proliferation.[6]
