Thangachimadam is a village in Rameswaram which is a holy island in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is separated from the mainland by Pamban channel.
Economy
The main occupation of people live here is fishing and its allied occupations. Also coconut and jasmine farming activities exist at a considerable level. Jasmine nurseries abound in this coastal hamlet although fishing is the predominant activity. Around 300 farmers cultivate the exotic jasmine variety that is known for its unique fragrance. Small nurseries cover at least 150 acres in the village. Jasmine is almost synonymous with the temple city of Madurai, but the famed Madurai malli has its origins in this little known village of Thangachimadam on Rameswaram island.

Holy places
- Sri Balathandayuthapani swamy temple: There are 3 Lord Ganapathy Shrine and lord Murugan Shrine and lord Manikanda Shrine inside this temple. Mainly, this is the temple of lord Murugan and represents Lord Bala Thandayuthapani of Palani in Tamil Nadu. Idol of BalaThandayuthupani is carved and maintained by devotees of Thangachimadam.[citation needed] Daily rituals are always performed with much enthusiasm. Premises of the temple has wonderful ambience containing coconut trees and cleanly maintained pond. Festival of sashti, which comes after diwali, is held in this temple.

- Sri EkantharamaSwamy temple : Sri Ekantharamaswamy Temple constructed by the Maharashtrian kings is an historic temple which dates around the fifteenth century
- Amrithavaabi theertham:this is a well of nector in the Ekantharamaswamy temple
- Villoondi Thirtham: This thirtham is located at Thangachimadam village, according to Hindu mythology when Lord Rama and Sita went in Pusphak Veemana. On their way from Sri Lanka, Sita felt thirsty. Because there was no way to drink water at that time Rama stuck an arrow in the sea. At once a spring came out from the sea like an artesian well which is very tasty for drinking. There are three springs in the sea, there is also a temple of Lord Rama named Ekantha Ramar Temple. It is literally translated stands for „buried bow‟. It is quite well known that Lord Ram always carried a bow. According to legend, at this sacred spot, located 7 km from Pamban, Lord Ram is said to have quenched the thirst of Sita by dipping the bow into the sea water.
- The Swamy Vivekanda Memorial Hall also called Vivekanandar Manimandapam. The Manimandapam was built in memory of Swami Vivekananda's return from the Chicago Parliament of World Religions. After he returned, it is said that he first set foot on Indian soil, which is where the Memorial is built. The Raja (king) of Ramanathapuram, who funded his visit to Chicago, takes a place in this memorial hall.

- Santhiyagappar church is in Rameswaram Island. St.Xavier visited this place on his way to Sri Lanka and the original church at this place was constructed by him. Annual festival of this church happens in July (Tamil month of aadi) in a grand scale.

Under the joint ISRO-MSSRF Village Resource Centre programme- ISRO has sanctioned satellite connectivity to Thiruvaiyaru in Tanjore, Sembatty in Dindigul district and Thangachimadam in Ramnad district. These centers will facilitate teleconferences between farm and fishing families at these locations and MSSRF scientists as well as with leading experts in the area of health, education, agriculture, fisheries, marketing and disaster management.
