Chainpur block, one of the eleven administrative blocks of Gumla district, Jharkhand state, India, has a population (2011 census) of 56,591, of which 28,397 are males while 28,194 are females. In 2011 there were total 10,056 families residing in Chainpur Block. The average sex ratio of the block is 993[clarification needed].

The block comprises eighty-three villages. Lies bordered with Chhattisgarh, also is on the way to reach Tanginath Shrine. Within it are many historic places like Raja Dera and similars.

Lance Naik, Albert Ekka, Param Vir Chakra, was born in village Jari of Chainpur Block.
