Silverberg is Jewish, and grew up in a "middle class liberal Canadian home in the '70s."[2] A certified sex educator and former chair of sexuality educator certification for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, he teaches on topics including sex and disability, sex and technology, and pleasure, inclusion, and access across North America.
