Yamamoto won the third stage of the Tour de Hokkaido twice while still a student at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, first in 2010[2] and again in 2013.[3] He won the Under-23 Japanese National Road Race Championships twice in a row in 2010 and 2011.[4]
