Shaun McBride (born July 7, 1987), better known by his online alias Shonduras, is an American artist and social media personality from Clearfield, Utah.[1] He is best known on Snapchat for his finger-drawings, and YouTube, as well as being the owner and founder of his own esports organisation, Spacestation Gaming.[2][3] On March 12, 2017, he hit one million subscribers on his YouTube channel. He's also a skateboarder.[4]
Discovery
In 2014, Shonduras had made a Snapchat account to share his adventures with his family.[5][6] He then started drawing on Snapchat, and sent his drawings to his family. He started getting popular after he had doodled an old lady, that had rainbow hair, into a pony. He had sent it to his sisters, and they showed it to their friends at school. They then started adding him to see more of his Snapchat art.[7] That is where his audience first started really growing. Shonduras' audience has become so big that, by advertising through Snapchat, snapchatting has become his job.[8] Shonduras is also Snapchat's first homegrown celebrity.[9][10] Shonduras has 3 kids with his wife Jenny McBride: Adley McBride who has a channel called “A for Adley,” Niko (Bear), and their newest, Navey.
Snapchat stories
Daily, Shonduras is creating content on Snapchat. He Snapchats every adventure of his life, to share with his fans. His stories have included him walking a tiger and riding an elephant in Thailand, him flying in a helicopter over glaciers in Alaska, him at Disneyland, Disney World, and backstage at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.[11] However, his stories can be created from day-to-day things, too. Such as him gaming with friends, skateboarding with friends, going to the dentist, or waiting 7 hours at an airport for his flight to leave. No matter what he may be up to, he turns it into a Snapchat story. Entitled "Make My Monday," he completes dares that are sent to him by his fans every Monday.[12] Shonduras participated in "SnapperHero."[13][14] SnapperHero was Snapchat's first original series.[15]
Nominations and awards
In the 7th annual Shorty Awards, Shonduras was a finalist in "The best Snapchatter" category.[16] In the 5th annual Streamy Awards, Shonduras was nominated for both "Best Short Form Creativity" and "Best Snapchat Storyteller." SnapperHero, which Shonduras participated in, won the Streamy Award for "Best Short Form Creativity." In both the 5th and 6th annual Streamy Awards, Shonduras won the "Snapchat Storyteller" Streamy award.[17][18] In 2016, Shonduras was nominated in The Ghosties for both "Snapchatter of the Year," and "Best Storyteller."
