The Vancouver Island Trail is an under-development 770 km-long hiking trail stretching the length of Vancouver Island from Oak Bay to Cape Scott Provincial Park, passing through communities such as Lake Cowichan, Port Alberni and Cumberland, and including already-existing trails such as the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, Cowichan Valley Trail, Alberni Inlet Trail, and North Coast Trail. The trail is intended to be accessible to hikers five months of the year, with some sections available much longer. Various sections will be available for non-motorized multi-purpose, where permitted.

The hiking trail project is being developed by the non-profit Vancouver Island Trail Association (VITA). VITA is a part of 'Hike BC', the British Columbia wing of the National Hiking Trail (NHT).
