Adarsha Vidyalaya, is an English medium school located in Sahakar Nagar, Shell Colony, Chembur, Mumbai. It is run by the Kerala Peoples Education Society (KPES) and was established in 1958. The school is one of the few Mumbai schools that offer Malayalam as a subject in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination. Tamil is offered as a subject till standard 7th. Urdu is also taught in the school. English is a compulsory language for the students to speak in the school premises.

Campus

The students are categorised into four houses - red, blue, green and yellow, which compete against each other in various academic events. The school has a science and computer lab, library, and an audio-visual room.

Curriculum

The school offers studies up to SSC (Xth standard), and is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board. Subjects taught include English as a First Language, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu.

Extra-curricular and Co-curricular Activities

The school elects a head boy and head girl every year.[1] The school celebrates annual day, Independence day[2] and Republic day every year. Teachers day, Children's day and Christmas are also celebrated. The school has participated in inter-school sports, elocution, science-exhibitions, drawing, dance and various other cultural activities.

The school publishes school magazine for the students every year that showcases student's talents including drawings, poems and short stories.[3]

The school has an MCC and RSP team selected by the physical instructors of the school.
