Dr. Alija Behmen (born 25 December 1940) is former mayor of Sarajevo and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina.[1] Behmen previously served as Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2001 to 2003.[1]

Behmen was elected mayor of Sarajevo in January 2009.[2]

He finished his bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate degree in economics at the University of Sarajevo.[1] He is also a professor at the University of Sarajevo.[1]
