The men's downhill competition of the Beijing 2022 Olympics was scheduled to be held on February 6 but was postponed due to strong winds and will now be held on 7 February, on the "Rock" course at Xiaohaituo Alpine Skiing Field ski resort in Yanqing District.[1]

The 2018 champion, Aksel Lund Svindal, retired from competitive skiing. The silver medalist, Kjetil Jansrud, qualified for the Olympics, as well as the bronze medalist, Beat Feuz. At the 2021–22 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, eight downhill events were held before the Olympics. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was leading the ranking, followed by Feuz, Matthias Mayer, the 2014 downhill and 2018 Super-G Olympic champion, and Marco Odermatt. Vincent Kriechmayr is the 2021 world champion, with Andreas Sander and Feuz being the silver and bronze medalists, respectively. No male alpine skier has ever won the Olympic downhill twice.

Schedule

The event was postponed from 6 February.[2]
