Amaravila is a village in Neyyattinkara town in Trivandrum district, Kerala State, India. The word Amaravila means land of immortals. Kerala's second largest checkpost after Walayar is situated in Amaravila.[1] This village is situated in NH 47 on the way to Kanyakumari. This village is located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. It is around 3 km from Neyyattinkara town. This town is noted for its religious integration, where a ganapathy temple in narayanapuram street, mosque (Amaravila Juma Masjid), church (CSI Church) are lying near to one another. This village has a post office, Village office, Sub-Registrar office, Akshaya e-center, and an Excise office. Situated on the banks of Neyyar River, this village has a large area of cultivated land including paddy, plantains, etc. The river Neyyar makes this land more fertile. A Government tile factory is also located in this village.
Amaravila CSI church or C S I Amaravila, founded in 1810 and known in those days as Emily Chapel, an oldest Anglican Church (Anglican Communion), is one of the main attractions of this village.[2]

TempleMaha Ganapathy (Ganesh) Temple in narayanapuram street is famous worship place where people from the different part of Kerala comes for worship. Ganapathy shrine with left sided (curled) trunk is the uniqueness of the this temple which cannot be found in any other Ganesh temple in kerala. There is a belief among the people that Ganesh shrine having its trunk curled towards left side has the tremendous power to remove obstacles. Deveswaram Mahadewar Temple is one of the major worship places in Amaravila. The temple is about 1000 years old and is now under Travancore Devaswom board. People from different places worship the deity Lord Shiva here. The upadevas are Vigneshvara and Nagaraja. The temple is situated near the sub-registrar office in Amaravila. MosqueAmaravila Muslim Jama-ath include two Mosques, town Mosque and a Juma masjid. A madrassa is also with these mosques. Church Amaravila CSI church is one of the major attractions of this place. Started as a small congregation in 1810, currently it is the largest CSI church in Kerala with 3 services (two in Malayalam and one in English). It was modified in 1895. The new bell-tower of the church has been inaugurated on March 7, 2010. The church has a shopping complex, a community hall and a school from Kindergarten to Plus Two. The church conducts a yearly convention which attracts a huge mass of people from south of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Education The following are the educational institutions in the area:
Famous personsV. S. Sivakumar started his political career as an activist of Kerala Students' Union from this area as he was born and brought up in Amaravila. He was a member of Parliament in the 13th Lok Sabha representing Thiruvananthapuram Parliamentary Constituency. He became the Minister for Transport and Devaswom of the Government of Kerala by defeating V. Surendran Pillai of KC(T) party in 2011 State Election.
