Amen Dunes is the musical project formed by American singer-songwriter and musician Damon McMahon in 2006.[1]

History

Damon McMahon founded the band Amen Dunes in 2006 in New York, New York.

Amen Dunes' fifth record, Freedom, has received positive reviews, with Pitchfork calling it McMahon's "euphoric breakthrough".[2][3][4][5][6] In addition to his regular collaborators Parker Kindred and Jordi Wheeler, Freedom features Delicate Steve and underground Roman musician Panoram. Chris Coady  (Beach House) produced. The record was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City and Sunset Sound in Los Angeles.[7]

Amen Dunes is made up of McMahon and a rotating cast of musicians.

Other work

McMahon was previously a member of short-lived NYC group Inouk. Originally formed in Philadelphia, Inouk was made up of McMahon on guitar and vocals, his brother, Alexander McMahon on guitar, keyboard, and vocals, Ian Fenger on lead guitar, Jesse Johnson on bass and vocals, and Glen Brasile on drums.[8] In 2004, Inouk released a 4-song EP recorded by Chris Zane called Search For The Bees on Say Hey Records,[8] followed by a full length record called No Danger later in 2004, also on Say Hey Records.[9]

He also recorded a solo album under his own name called Mansions on Astralwerks.[10]
