Ana Bogdan (born 25 November 1992) is a Romanian tennis player. She has reached a high in the singles world rankings of no. 165 as of 5 June 2015.

Bogdan was born in Sinaia and had a successful junior career, reaching junior world no. 2 on 5 January 2009. She is not related to Elena Bogdan; they were born eight months apart.

At the 2016 Brasil Tennis Cup, Bogdan scored one of the biggest victories of her career, defeating former world number one Jelena Janković in the second round in straight sets.[1]

She is not to be confused with the other Ana Bogdan, founder of Folkwear Society, who is also from Sinaia.[2]

Career

She had a great year with nice results. She started the year at the International Tournament from Rio de Janeiro losing in the 2nd round to Lara Arruabarrena 5-7 7-5 3-6. Next she played in $25,000 ITF Sao Paulo tournament losing in the semifinals to the countrywoman Andreea Mitu 5-7 6-2 2-6. Remaining in Brasil she played next at $25,000 ITF Campinas, now losing in the quarters to Sarra Sorribes Tormo. She then played in the Katowice Open 2016 losing in the 1st round of qualifiers. Next she played $25,000 ITF Caserta losing in the 2nd round to Rebecca Sramkova. She remained in Italy to play $25,000 ITF Grado winning the tournament. Then she played more ITF Tournaments. Playing in Standford and Florianopolis, Ana completed the 2nd round and semifinals in Standford. At the US Open 2016 she beat the qualifiers, then in the 1st round she defeated countrywoman Sorana Cirstea 0-6 7-5 6-2, then she lost in the 2nd round to another countrywoman Monica Niculescu 0-6 1-6
