Dick Rifenburg was a star athlete at Arthur Hill High School in football, basketball, and track and field. He led Arthur Hill to MHSAA Class A high school state championship in 1944. The Lumberjacks won the game against Kalamazoo Central High School and an undefeated season (19-0). He scored 24 points, including 17 in the second half. Dick was also the state champion shot put and high jump in 1944. He led Lumberjacks to their first State Track Championship. Rifenburg was named All State in football, basketball and track. In 2002, He was inducted into The Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame.[7]
