Audio (stylized as A.U.D.I.O., previously known as TNT Boyz and B5) is an R&B boy band originating from St. Petersburg, Florida which later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. As of 2010, the group changed their name to Audio from B5. The group consists of five brothers, Dustin, Kelly, Patrick, Carnell and Bryan Breeding. They were formerly known as the TNT Boyz featuring only the four eldest brothers, but renamed themselves B5 when Bryan, the youngest brother, joined the group.[1]

Career

TNT Boyz (1998–2001)

The band started in 1998 with the four brothers Dustin Michael Breeding, Kelly Allen Breeding, Patrick Owen Breeding and Carnell Fredrick Breeding. The four-member band was known as TNT Boyz.[2] Dustin, the oldest of the brothers, and Patrick were the lead singers of TNT Boyz. The young boys were encouraged by their mother and aunt to pursue a music career. They did the usual run of talent competitions, winning many, including shows put together by Radio Disney. Music executive Jim McMahan of JAMM Entertainment Group signed them to his management and development company. The band changed its name to B5 when Bryan Jesse Breeding, the youngest of the brothers joined in. The name B5 was chosen to denote Breeding 5 in similar fashion to the more famous Jackson 5.

B5 (2001–2009)

The band took part in tours and appearing in shows alongside acts including Mario Winans, Kanye West, Ginuwine, Usher, Fantasia[disambiguation needed], Bow Wow, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Omarion, Soulja Boy and NSync. They also performed in Monte Carlo in presence of Prince Albert of Monaco and celebrities such as Kevin Costner and Robert Wagner.[importance?] While passing through Atlanta, GA, their Manager Jim McMahan introduced them to L. A. Reid and Jermaine Dupri; after meeting Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, they were signed by Bad Boy Entertainment. Diddy produced B5's self-titled debut album along with other top producers including Rodney Jerkins, Ryan Leslie, Sean Garrett, Corna Boyz and Veit Renn.[1] The lead single, "All I Do", a cover of the The Jackson 5's single "All I Do Is Think of You" similar to a cover released by Troop, was suggested to them by Jerkins and they recorded it without hearing either of the other versions. Patrick acknowledges that their version is more reminiscent of the Troop cover than the original version.[1]

The album B5 reached number seven on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart, after entering at #19 in its first week of release on the Billboard 200 and #11 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Their photographs appeared on fanzine covers month after month, and a craze developed wherever they visited. In 2005 they nearly caused a Minneapolis mall to be shut down, when approximately 2,000 fans rushed towards the stage during a free concert that took place there. The debut album included the hit singles "All I Do" and "U Got Me" which peaked at #9 on Radio Disney and hung on the BET "106 & Park" Top 10 for weeks.

In their second album Don't Talk, Just Listen, B5 tried their hand at writing a few songs, with the help of producers such as Bryan Michael Cox, Mario Winans, Soul Diggaz, Danja, Blaze, The Underdogs, Insomoniax, and Mischke. "Hydrolics", featuring Bow Wow, was the first single from their second album. The CD was produced by P.Diddy, Kevin Wales and Harve Pierre. It was released on September 11, 2007, and was their last album on Bad Boy records.

Audio (2010–present)

B5 renamed themselves Audio in 2010 after their decision to leave Bad Boy Records. Audio released the promo song "Magnetic" featuring Akon in late 2010. It received mainly bad reviews, so they later confirmed that their official single from their third studio album will be "Single". "Single" has more of an R&B instrumentation and has been getting more positive reviews. An album is currently being recorded and under production for release in early 2012 under UpFront Megatainment/Motown/Universal. The members of Audio keep contact with their fans via Twitter, Facebook and UStream.

Audio's first performance was at the Sweet Auburn Festival in Atlanta, GA on May 7 & 8, 2011.

The band members have stated on Ustream that none of the leaked songs will appear on the next album.
