Bangladesh special operations forces

Bangladesh special operations forces refer to units which are under the direct command of the Bangladesh military and specifically organized, trained, and equipped to conduct and support special operations.

Bangladesh Army

The Para Commando Special Unit was categorized into three battalions with six missions. The missions are Direct action, Special reconnaissance, Unconventional warfare, Counter-insurgency, Military operations other than war and Counter-terrorism.

  • Para Commando Battalions:
  • President Guard Regiment: Created in 1976 by Major General/President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman. The regiment provides military support for all security functions, including Presidential trips, Presidential movements, medical support and emergency medical services, and hospitality services. The Commander of the President Guard Regiment is an army Major General known as the Military Secretary to the President. He reports directly to the president.
  • Special Security Force: Special operational and intelligence unit is responsible for providing physical security to the President, Head of the Government and any person designated as VIP by the Government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
  • Black Eagle Regiment: All Information about this unit are classified by the Army. The Battalion consists of trained snipers.
  • Special Forces Police Commando: Elite Commando Unit of Bangladesh Army operates on air, sea, and land.
  • Special Services Wing : All Information is classified.
  • Formation Commando Unit : All Information is classified.
  • The Vipers: The Vipers work under the supervision of 24th infantry brigade of Bangladesh Army. The unit consists of highly specialized soldiers,like- snipers etc. They have been specially trained to perform hostage rescue and behind enemy lines operation.

Bangladesh Navy

  • Special Warfare Diving and Salvage (SWADS): Elite Special Operations Force of the Bangladesh Navy. The SWADS are professional soldiers and recruited through the Bangladesh Navy. The unit is organized, trained, and equipped along the lines of SEAL/UDT teams of the United States Navy SEALs and the Republic of Korea Navy UDT/SEAL. SWADS is considered to be the most technically advanced Naval unit in Asia alongside South Korean Navy Seal.[1]
  • Special Boat Squadron : All Information is classified.
  • ODD71: All Information is classified. Reported to be Submarine launched Demolition Divers of Bangladesh Navy.

Bangladesh Air Force -

Bangladesh Airforce operate a small commando unit for special operations, hostage rescue.
