Bashir Y Jamoh OFR, (born on 2 February 1964) is the Former Director General Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has over 37 years of professional and technocratic experience in the transportation and maritime sectors of the Nigerian economy. He had worked in Kaduna State Government before transferring his service to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency in 1994. He is the Former executive director, finance and Administration in Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, The Author of Harnessing Nigeria's maritime Assets-past present and future.[1][2][3][4][5]

Background[edit]

Bashir Jamoh holds qualifications from Baze University, Abuja where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Law and he hold post graduate degree diploma in management sciences from Bayero University, Kano and master's degree in management from Korea Maritime and Ocean University. Ph.D. degree in logistic and transport management from University of Port Harcourt. He attended several leadership and management courses at the Harvard university US, Oxford university UK, Cambridge University UK, International Training Centre of ILO Turin Italy, Institute of public private partnership Washington, D.C., International Law institute, USA and institute for leadership and development for the public Good, USA, Royal Institute of public Administration UK World maritime university Sweden.[6][7]

Early career[edit]

Bashir Jamoh begin his career in Kaduna state government in May 1987 as an Accountant, produce purchase, farmers supply company Ltd, Assistant produce purchase manager farmers supply company Ltd, from 1989 to 1991, principal procurement officer, farmer supply Ltd, Kaduna from 1991 to 1993. He transfer of Service to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency He Rose through the ranks and attained the management rank of Director General. Bashir Jamoh realised his career. He started as the principal commercial officer (operations), port services controller (Onne), port services controller (Tin-Can island port); Assist Chief Commercial officer (HQ), Chief Admin officer (Training), assistant director, Wet and Dry Cargo (operations), assistant director ( Research), Head (protocol and logistics) and assistant director (Training). He is a member of multiple professional bodies, including the chartered institute of transport and logistics, chartered institute of Administration of Nigeria, Institute of maritime economists Canada, Institute of logistics London Nigeria Institute of international Affairs and member, National speakers Association (NSA) and global speakers federation USA.[8][9]

Major Achievement in NIMASA[edit]

The emergence of Bashir Jamoh as NIMASA boss has came with numerous positivities for the agency as he is the 1st in house leader over history. Bashir's knowledge and skill in the Maritime sector has seen him exploring at maximum the marine industry leading to the following major achievements.

1.Spearhead the Actualization of Nigeria's Deep Blue project know as National Integrated National security and waterways protection infrastructure, contributing significantly to a drastic reduction in piracy in the Nigerian waters and the Gulf of Guinea .[10]

2. Midwife and birthed the new frame work for tackling maritime insecurity in the Gulf of Guinea as GOG-MCF/SHADE GOG with Nigeria (Nigerian Navy and NIMASA) and the inter Regional Coordinating centre in Yaounde.[11]

3.Provide the support structure for the realization of the maritime industry's environment sensitivity mapping index (ESI).

4. Positioned NIMASA as the sole Agency for the promotion of the Blue Economy Agenda.

5. Establishment of the littoral state cooperation (LISCON) that galvanized all the Governor's of the littoral state into a signatory-base MOU, working cooperation for the advantage of Blue Growth in Nigeria.

6.Established NIMASA maritime stakeholders experiment contact centre.

Philanthropy[edit]

Jamoh's altruism led him to established Dr. Bashir jamoh foundation, a foundation that has been in existence for over a decade.it has traverse through many parts in the Nigeria, the foundations critical areas of investment includes but limited to: Education; through sponsorship of indigent student, Education; through medical outreaches that rescue thousands of people, social services and skills acquisition.
