Benaraby is a town 20 kilometres south of Gladstone in Central Queensland, Australia. It is on the Boyne River and is the access point to Lake Awoonga. The population of Benaraby at the 2006 census was 594.[1]

Benaraby was primarily a rural locality, but in recent times has become more of a residential suburb for the workers in Gladstone, Boyne Island and Tannum Sands.

Currently, Benaraby contains 2 petrol stations, a primary school, a community hall, a nursery and three accommodation providers.

History

Benaraby Post Office opened around 1912 (receiving offices known as Boyne Bridge, Boyne River, Annandale and Benaraby had been open from 1890) and closed in 1982.[2]

Benaraby State School

Benaraby State School is a public school located in Benaraby. It was established in 1886 and currently has 113 students from prep to year 7.
