Bobby J Frausto (born Robert Anthony Frausto Jr) is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter and record producer. Bobby J's initial exposure came through the viral success of his band Steal the Scenery,[1] co-produced by Jaime Preciado of Pierce the Veil.[2] Bobby J[3] was lead singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist for Steal the Scenery.[4]

Early life and education

Bobby J was born on June 24th in San Diego, California. He was raised Catholic-Christian and attended St. John of the Cross parochial school. He began singing for his church choir and was the first to start a band at the church. He was also the first to drum at their services. He was quickly encouraged to audition for local and touring performers by his father, family and friends. With musical talents fueling his endless abilities, Bobby J became a professional DJ at the age of 12 performing for school dances, corporate events, private clients and business like Walmart, Supercuts, Horn Blower Cruises MDR, and Jr. Seau of the San Diego Chargers. He is a Helix Charter High School alumni and was section leader of Helix's drum line, symphony, orchestra and marching band. Bobby J played football and golf alongside Heisman Trophy winners Reggie Bush and Alex Smith. He attended college for administration of justice and business.

Career

As a child, Bobby J was surrounded by music and arts. His grandmother Cecilia Hernandez, who has taken home over 10 Grammy's from Mexico, taught him the art of writing catchy melodies. Her husband Richard Darrah, an editor at the San Diego Union Tribune, doubled as a music engineer and taught Bobby J the basics of recording vocals.

In 2009, Bobby J founded San Diego's popular four piece Pop-Rock band, "Steal the Scenery". In spring of 2010, the group jolted to the top of the San Diego music scene with the release of their full-length album entitled “All Or Nothing"[5] co-produced by Jaime Preciado of "Pierce the Veil". The album was dedicated to Bobby J's grandmother Martha Frausto who passed away shortly before. In May 2010, Bobby J and Steal the Scenery headlined in San Diego, California at "Petco Park" Stadium in front of thousands of fans. In November 2010, the band took their first national tour with Just Surrender (Razor & Tie), Phone Calls From Home (Red Blue Records) and The Scenic (Victory Records). After years of touring, headlining, musical releases, and fundraising for their community, Bobby J began songwriting and producing for various artists - forcing the band on a hiatus in August 2012.

In 2012, Bobby J began writing and producing records out of San Diego's premier recording studio Night Sky Sound[6] alongside CEO, keyboardist/composer and a record producer Stephen Donato. Donato has contributed to the success of many artists, companies and record labels such as Paula Abdul, Color Me Bad, Damon Elliot, As I Lay Dying, Alan Howarth, Nickelodeon, Showtime, Cinemax, Miramax, Discovery Channel, AT&T, Warner Bros, Warner Chapel, Atlantic Records.

The song "Someone"[7] written for artist and youtuber Trevor Moran topped the charts in the United States and peaked at #1 on the US Billboard Trending 140.[8] The future release of Moran's debut EP in 2014 (with songs Slay and XIAT[9] written and produced by Bobby J) charted at number 1 on US Heat[10] and number 17 on the US Indie Charts.[11]

Between the years of 2013 and 2015, Bobby J wrote and produced many records for both indie and popular artists. He also worked on several records as a ghost producer.

The Album hit the iTunes charts in Canada at number 15, the iTunes charts in the US at number 21 and the iTunes charts in Australia at number 45. GOLD also charted on Billboard Independent Albums at number 10.[13] The album GOLD also includes a special acoustic version of the song "Ordinary" showcasing the works of both producers Charlie Puth and Bobby J.
