Bolarum is a major Locality in Secunderabad City or Secunderabad Contonment , Hyderabad in India. Geographically, Bolarum extends into two administrative districts, Hyderabad district and Ranga Reddy District.[1]

Demographics

As per the census of India 2001 Bolarum had a population of 13,305 (58 males, 42% females) with 15% of the population under the age of six. Bolarum's average literacy rate is 58%, which is lower than the national average of 59.5%. Male and female literacy rates are 68% and 43% respectively.

Bolarum is the home to the famous church Holy Trinity Church, Bolarum which was built in 1847. St Joseph Church, Bolarum located beside Holy Trinity Church, Bolarum. Bolarum has a Public Garden which is located near St Joseph Church, Bolarum. Besides the St. Joseph Church, St Anns High School, Bolarum is situated. Bolarum is located 3 km away from the Alwal bus stop.

Landmarks

Some important landmarks in the area are, Holy Trinity Church, Bolarum – Church built in European style (Holy Trinity Church), built in 1847 by Queen Victoria, member of British Royal family. In the 1980s, on her visit to Bolarum, Queen Elizabeth II attended church service for her Wedding Anniversary.[2] Bolarum Library, close to Lakadwala crossroads is also a very old landmark of Bolarum. After multiple attempts, this Library was finally inaugurated by Lieut.-Colonel Kirkwood on 23 July 1892.[3]

Transport

Bolarum railway station is the local train station located in Bolarum, which runs local trains (Diesel Multiple Units) connecting it to Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Falaknuma and Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway stations. The state-owned TSRTC runs the city bus service, connecting to all the major parts of the city. It is 10 km from Secunderabad Central Railway Station and 12 km from Begumpet Airport & 41 km from New International Airport at Shamshabad.
