Bonita Mabo AO[1] [2]is an educator[3] and activist for Aboriginal Australians, Torres Strait Islanders, and Australian South Sea Islanders.[4][5][6] She is the widow of Eddie Mabo.[4]
Bonita Mabo was born in Halifax, Queensland and is an Australian South Sea Islander of Vanuatuan descent whose ancestors were "blackbirded" to work in the sugar cane industry in Queensland.[3]
In the 2012 television film Mabo, Deborah Mailman played the role of Bonita Mabo.[7]
