Buckeye High School is a high school in Deville, Louisiana in northern Rapides Parish, Louisiana. The school serves the adjacent communities of Buckeye, Deville, Holloway Prairie, Big Island, Libuse, Hickory Grove, and some suburbs of Pineville.
History
Buckeye High School was formed in 1938, and it graduated its first class in 1938. Prior to 1938 students who wished to attend school had the opportunity to attend Bolton High School located in Alexandria, Louisiana. The first school building consisted of a single wood frame and clapboard building located just behind where the Jr. High building currently sits. BHS grades 9-12 have a new high school building. Grades 7 and 8 have their classes in the old high school building. Grade 6 moved from Hayden R. Lawrence Middle School to the old junior high building.
Buckeye High School was one of the last schools to become integrated in Rapides Parish. Integration was first ordered by Federal District Judge Norman Scott in 1983. Following a lengthy court battle heavily funded by the local community, an integration plan was approved by the courts which included allowing the campus to remain completely Caucasian while transporting 90% of the 7th and 8th grade classes to fully integrated schools in Alexandria. The campus and surrounding community continue to be predominately Caucasian.

Washington High from Shreveport, Louisiana and came close to winning the first playoff game in school history in November 2008 but fell short on a Booker T. Washington touchdown drive in the final few minutes in the fourth quarter. The Panthers advanced again to the playoffs in 2010 with a showdown against district favorite and perennial state contender Marksville before falling short against the Tigers. The Panthers would win their third district title in school history in 2012 defeating the Vidalia Vikings in the final game to go 8–2 on the season with a 4-1 district record. The Panthers are set to host Iowa in the first round of the 2012 LHSAA State Playoffs.
