CCleaner (formerly Crap Cleaner) is a freeware utility used to optimize a user's computer. It is developed by Piriform and is designed for Microsoft Windows.

Features

CCleaner allows the user to remove unused temporary files from Internet browsers and other supported applications. The program also includes a Registry Cleaner to locate and correct problems in the Windows Registry such as, unused file extensions and application paths. In addition, CCleaner assists in the uninstallation process by allowing users to uninstall programs from CCleaner itself.

CCleaner also allows the alteration of start-up programs, similar to the Microsoft Windows MSConfig Utility. Users can disable several start-up programs to free up processor speed at start-up.

Version 2.0

CCleaner 2.0 is built in C++ which allows it to be portable and compatible in 64-bit Vista. The scanning process has also been rewritten in C++ to allow faster analyzing and cleaning. Its C++ design also allows it to be installed onto a USB flash drive which ensures portability.
