Captain Shreve High School (CSHS) is one of the largest high schools in Shreveport, Louisiana. Founded in 1967, the school is built in the shape of a three-story circular building.
CSHS gained national attention when one of its alumni, author Will Clarke wrote about his high school experience in the essay, "How to Kill a Boy that Nobody Likes". The story, published in Simon & Schuster's anthology When I Was a Loser, was banned in 2007 by a school district in Rhode Island. In the 1980s, the actress Valerie Bertinelli performed at a talent show; two of her brothers attended CSHS.[1][2] In 1973, Captain Shreve won the AAAA State Championship in football.
Clubs and activities
Eligibility to participate in the extracurricular activities marked with an asterisk is determined at the end of each grading period. The student must have a grade point average of 2.0 (or higher, in the case of certain groups) and pass five subjects on the weighted scale in order to be eligible. The administration may deny membership to students who exhibit patterns of inappropriate behavior.

From 1967 to 1984, Lee Hedges was the head football coach at CSHS; during his tenure the school won district championships and the state championship in 1973, the last time that a Shreveport-Bossier City school has won that title. The CSHS football stadium was renamed in Hedges' honor in 2001.
