What sort of districts?

[edit]

It would be helpful to distinguish this category more clearly from the Districts (mintaqah, administrative divisions) that are within Category:Districts of Al-Hasakah Governorate.

The members of Category:Districts of Al-Hasakah are each described as a district of the city Al-Hasakah. Are these merely districts in the informal sense, like the articles within the sub-categories of Category:Districts of London by borough?

Or are they sub-districts, nahiyah, as defined at Districts of Syria? – Fayenatic London 18:02, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Fayenatic london: This page has 3 watchers, one is myself; presumably the other two are you and IbnElJazira (talk · contribs) - the editor who created the category and also this talk page. I tried leaving a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Syria#Districts of Al-Hasakah; as you may have noticed, it got no attention, so I gave it a week and than raised the CFD. I still think that we have one category too many here. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:40, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It appears from Districts of Syria that these "districts" in Al-Hasakah are not mintaqah, so should not be upmerged. I suggest either renaming to Category:Populated places in al-Hasakah or just upmerging to Category:Al-Hasakah. The latter is probably better as there are only 5 pages. – Fayenatic London 18:47, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

They are city districts. IbnElJazira (talk) 20:14, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
