Created April 8, 2007. Many of the articles will likely be subdivided further, geographically. Suggestions and subcategorization feedback welcome.--Keefer4 | Talk 09:33, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

subcat hierarchy and renames

[edit]

Sicne making them with "Country" attached as an appellation, to clarify catnames for non-BC readers, I've since gathered that other parallel cats in the world of wiki don't necessarily have to say "region" or "area" or anything else, just the commonly-used name, so long as no other dabbing is necessary; so certain ones like Okanagan Country and Kootenay Country I'm pondering might have been better in their more usual modern forms Category:Okanagan and Category:Kootenays - "Kootenays" I've found myself typing the catname that way, in fact, it's such a standard usage. Similarly maybe Category:Chilcotin Country and Category:Cariboo Country could be in shorter forms; Category:Chilcotin I didn't like when I first thought of it that way because of the confusion potential with Category:Tsilhqot'in which of course is one of its necswsary subcats. On the Coast, user:pfly and I had a discussion about "water regions" on Category talk:Puget Sound re a potential Category:Queen Charlotte Strait and Category:Strait of Juan de Fuca - re the VI region Category:Juan de Fuca mirrors the common vernacular usage but seems like it should be about the person, not the region/strait. Water region problems aside, and the ongoing issue of overlapping regions in this cat and related cats in general, I'll leave asdie for now; it's the cat names that are bugging me, since I juust created Category:Wells Grey-Cleaerwater and realize now that Category:Wells Grey-Clearwater Country might have been a better choice; if someone can "bot" the change to that please do; it's only been started today and has only a couple of dozen entries so far (though lots of articles out there are still due to get it, never mind things not written yet). Category:Lower Mainland could maybe use Category:Upper Fraser Valley and whatever other subregions might be appropriate; the old Central Fraser Valley nom-de-region has been lost in the restructuring of the region, and eeverything weset of Abby-Mission is GVRD now; but even the GVRD has its subregions, no?
