Catete is a neighborhood in South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[1] It has strong commerce, with the majority of population being middle class.

History

Because of occupation dating from the colonial period Catete has many historic buildings. The district had been one of the noblest of the city before the transfer of the capital city from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília. After the transfer the district had a certain decline mainly due to the decline in real estate value.

Metro stations

Catete is served by two metro stations: Catete and Largo do Machado.[2][3]
