The Census in Pakistan is conducted every 10 years across the entire nation. The first census was conducted after independence in 1951, and later in 1961, 1972, 1981, and 1998.[1] The 1971 census was delayed one year due to the Bangladesh Liberation War, while the census in 1998 was delayed due to political issues.[citation needed] Pakistan's next national census was scheduled to take place in 2008,[2][3] and later in 2010 but the plan could not materialise.[4][better source needed] There were multiple census counts completed for the latest round, with even the latest April 2012 results,[5][6] subsequently being thrown out as "unreliable". A UN led census is to be conducted with staff training and GPS digitisation.[7] As of 2015, The population of Pakistan is estimated at 191.71 million.[8][9]
