The Central District of Khatam County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان خاتم) is in Yazd province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Herat.[3]

At the National Census in 2006, its population was 18,922 in 4,770 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 21,210 people in 5,705 households.[5] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 21,408 inhabitants in 6,292 households.[2]

After the census, Chahak Rural District was separated from the district in the establishment of Chahak District, which was divided into two rural districts.[6]
