Charlie Day (born February 9, 1976) is an American television and film actor best known for playing Charlie Kelly on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Biography

Early life

Day spent most of his childhood in Middletown, Rhode Island, and graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Afterwards, he attended Merrimack College in Massachusetts where he was an All-American cheerleader and won the Massachusetts mascot of the year.

Career

Besides playing Charlie Kelly on the FX television series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, he is also the show's executive producer and one of its writers. He has also appeared on several television shows such as Third Watch, Law & Order, and Reno 911!

Personal life

Day is married to actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis[1], a co-star from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, since 2006. While dating, Day and Ellis appeared on Reno 911 together and portrayed incestuous siblings.[2] His father Thomas Day, is an English/Music professor at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.
