Churk Ghurma is a town and a nagar panchayat in Sonbhadra district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Churk Ghurma had a population of 8,685. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Churk Ghurma has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79% and, female literacy is 61%. In Churk Ghurma, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Churk have many tourist attractions. Kaimur Wildlife sanctuary is one of them and is untouched by lives.

Sonbhadra is easily accessible from all parts of the country and well connected by Air, Rail & Road.


Air-The nearest airport for Sonbhadra is Babatpur which is in District Varanasi & 110 km from Robertsganj (District HQ.). There are direct flights from Varanasi to different major cities i.e. Delhi, Agra, Khajuraho, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow & Bhubhneshwar etc. and vice versa.


Rail-The nearest railway station for district headquarters is "ROBERTSGANJ", which is on the loop line from Chunar (Delhi–Howrah line). There are so many other stations in District Sonbhadra i.e. Chopan, Renukoot, Shaktinagar etc. The major trains passing through the Sonbhadra are:

  • Moorie Express (8101/8102) (From Tatanagar to Pathankot)
  • Jharkhand Swarnjayanti Express (8603/8604) (from Hatia to Delhi)
  • Triveni Express( 4269/4270) (From Lucknow to Shaktinagar/Singrauli)
  • Shaktipunj Express

These trains directly connected Sonbhadra to various cities i.e. Delhi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiyana, Ranchi, Lucknow, Kolkotta etc.

Road-The Sonbhadra is well connected to Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Mirzapur etc. by road. Buses are available 24 hours from Varanasi to Sonbhadra, and it will take hardly 2+12 hours to Robertsganj (district headquarters).

The easiest way to come to Sonbhadra is by train/air up to Varanasi/ Mirzapur then take a bus/private taxi to Sonbhadra, which are available 24 hours from Varanasi and Mirzapur.
