Cierra Alexa Ramirez (born March 9, 1995) is an American actress and singer. She stars as one of the main characters in the ABC Family series, The Fosters, as Mariana.[1]
Early life
Cierra was born in Houston, Texas but splits her time between Los Angeles and New York. She also attended Spring Branch Elementary and Westside High school in Houston, Texas. She is the older sister of Savannah, who is mistaken as her twin. They are actually 18 months apart.
Career
Ramirez made her first TV appearance when she was 10-year-old in Showtime at the Apollo performing a song named "I Am Changing".[2] In 2007, she had a recurring role on the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, as Jasmine, a camper with anger management problems at the camp that Maddie (Ashley Tisdale) works at.
Cierra was an opening act for Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago and American Idol's Ruben Studdard, Kimberly Caldwell and Ace Young. Ramirez is signed to Temper Music Group [3] and currently recording her debut album.[4] Cierra was cast as Kathy, a recurring character, in The Secret Life of the American Teenager that makes her first appearance in the 100th episode.[5] She also stars Girl in Progress, portraying one of the lead roles, Ansiedad, for which she won an ALMA Award for Favorite Movie Actress Supporting Role.[6][7]
In 2012, Ramirez confirmed via Twitter that she will be portraying Mariana Foster in the ABC Family series The Fosters, that is produced by Jennifer Lopez. Her character is a "smart-as-a-whip straight A student" who has a fraternal twin named Jesus, played by Jake T. Austin.[8] The show premiered on June 3, 2013, the same night of The Secret Life of the American Teenager series finale.[9]
