Cohesity is a privately held enterprise storage company headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
Cohesity was founded in June 2013 by Mohit Aron, who previously co-founded Nutanix.[1] Cohesity launched publicly in June 2015, introducing a web-scale platform designed to consolidate and manage secondary data.[3] Cohesity raised $70 million in venture funding in two rounds with Google Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, and Sequoia Capital since its founding in 2013.[4]
In October 2015, Cohesity announced the public launch of its flagship products, Cohesity DataPlatform and DataProtect.[5] DataPlatform is a web-scale platform designed to consolidate secondary storage and associated workflows.[6] DataProtect provides a data protection solution converged on DataPlatform.[7] The second generation of DataPlatform and DataProtect was announced in February 2016 with new capabilities and features including SMB Protocol Support, CloudArchive, and Site-to-Site Replication.[8] In June 2016, the launch of Cohesity 3.0 products (DataProtect, DataPlatform) expanded data protection to physical servers and doubled performance of the distributed, scale out DataPlatform.[9]
