Sacred Heart College, Sucre, was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1913.[2] It is coeducational, and offers six years of primary and six years of secondary education.[3][4]

Extracurricular programs

  • Basketball and football for both boys and girls at all levels. A large indoor basketball stadium doubles as an assembly hall.[5]
  • Taekwondo: four black belts who started the sport at the College are representing the department and the country in national and international events.
  • Other activities scheduled include artistic gymnastics, dance, chess, poetry and public speaking, and wind instruments (dulcimer, flute, recorder, guitar, charango, violin).[6]
  • Race walking: for the whole family, a footrace to promote good health.[7]
  • National days are celebrated to commemorate the coming to independence of the country and its defense during various aggressions, with a theme of striving for peace and harmony with all peoples.[8]
  • Parenting sessions are held by the Community Participation Unit (UPC) with the theme of the role of parents in the integral formation of children.[9]
  • Voluntary service to the elderly and children is promoted through the Community Participation Unit, and bazaars are held for the benefit of the needy.[10]
