Collateral Beauty is an upcoming American comedy-drama film directed by David Frankel written by Allan Loeb. The film stars Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Michael Peña, and Naomie Harris. The film is scheduled to be released on December 16, 2016.

Production

On May 13, 2015, it was announced that Hugh Jackman and Rooney Mara would star in the New York-set indie drama Collateral Beauty, to be directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and scripted by Allan Loeb.[1] Michael Sugar and Bard Dorros would produce through their Anonymous Content banner.[1] On June 9, 2015, PalmStar Media came on board to co-produce and fully finance the film, and Likely Story also on board to co-produce the film, while Loeb would also produce.[2] On June 15, 2015, Variety reported that Jason Segel was in talks to join the film.[3] On July 15, 2015, it was announced that Jackman had exited the project due to his commitment with 20th Century Fox's Wolverine 3 film and producers were eyeing Johnny Depp to start negotiations.[4] On August 4, 2015, Will Smith was added to the cast to play the lead replacing Jackman, while Smith's Overbrook Entertainment would also produce the film.[5] On September 8, 2015, it was announced that New Line Cinema came on board to handle worldwide distribution rights to the film, while Mara had left the project, news confirmed.[6] On October 5, 2015, director Gomez-Rejon exited the film due to creative differences with the studio.[7] On November 8, 2015, it was announced that David Frankel was nearing a deal to direct the film.[8] On December 1, 2015, Variety reported that Helen Mirren was in early talks to join the film, with filming expected to begin early 2016 in New York City.[9] On January 14, 2016, TheWrap reported that Edward Norton, Michael Peña, and Naomie Harris were cast in the film, while Rachel McAdams was in negotiations to join the cast.[10] Village Roadshow Pictures would be co-financing the film.[11] On February 9, 2016, Keira Knightley joined the film and following her Kate Winslet was also cast in the film on the next day.[12][13] Enrique Murciano was spotted filming along with Winslet, while Jacob Latimore also joined the film.[14][15]

Principal photography on the film began on February 22, 2016 in New York City,[16] where the filming also took place in Queens.[17]

Release

Collateral Beauty will be released by Warner Bros. on December 16, 2016.[11]
