"Cover Girl" is the first single from RuPaul's album Champion. It was released to iTunes February 3, 2009 as part of an EP titled Cover Girl - The RuMixes, and released again as track three of the Champion album.
On January 5, 2009, RuPaul released the world premier of his single Cover Girl on his MySpace profile and his blog. It was premiered as a promotional video which included footage from RuPaul's Drag Race, a reality TV show formatted similar to America's Next Top Model. RuPaul sees in Cover Girl a return to the House music of the 90's: "I understand what the public wants from me - and I am letting these children have it!".[1] The single was later available as a download on iTunes on February 11, 2009, or as a CD directly from RuPaul's webpage (released in the "RuCo, Inc." imprint RuPaul founded for his last 3 albums.) On the 17th of February, 2009 the music video to Cover Girl was released. In the music video are beside RuPaul the album producer Lucian Piane and the boxing team from RuPaul's Drag Race.[2] The second version of the music video which contains additional scenes with three finalists of RuPaul's Drag Race and a rap part of the winner BeBe Zahara Benet was published at the beginning of April, 2009[3]
