Dahal (Nepali: दाहाल) is a Nepali surname. Mostly believed to originate from Madi of Sankhuwasabha from the Koshi zone of eastern region of Nepal. Some Dahals are also believed to have been originated from Okhaldhunga district. There are no notable differences between these two Dahals although some differences include The dahals from Sankhuwasabha doesn't consume milk or milk products on the day of full-moon whereas it is consumed by the other one. The Dahals from Sankhuwasabha also ties flag on top of their house during Dashain whereas the other one doesn't. They are mostly inhabited in the places like Madi, Gauradaha, Biratnagar, Kathmandu Sakhuwabazar etc.
