Danel Sinani (born 5 April 1997) is a Luxembourgish professional footballer who plays club football for F91 Dudelange, as a midfielder. He has signed for Norwich City for the 2020–21 season.

Club career

Sinani has played club football for Racing FC Union Luxembourg and F91 Dudelange.[1][2] He was one two Luxembourg National Division with Dudelange.[3] In November 2018, he scored against Olympiacos F.C. the first ever goal for a Luxembourgish club in the group stage of a major European competition.[3] In the summer of 2019, Sinani was offered a move to R.E. Virton, who play in the Belgian league, but Sinani refused the deal.[4] Later in the year, he scored two goals in a Europa League match against five time Europa League winners Sevilla.[3][5] As of 2020, he has scored 13 goals in UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches.[3] Sinani has scored 14 goals in 16 appearances in the 2019–20 Luxembourg National Division,[6] nine goals in the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League, and 24 goals in 30 matches in all competitions.[7]

In April 2020, he signed for Norwich City for the 2020–21 season.[8] His start date is dependent on the resumption of the 2019–20 Premier League due to the coronavirus pandemic,[9] and his contract is until 2023.[6] He is set to become the first Luxembourgish Norwich City player.[9]

International career

He made his international debut for Luxembourg in 2017.[1] Kosovo approached Sinani about representing them internationally, as his parents are from Dragaš. Sinani refused the meeting to discuss it, as he sees Luxembourg as his home.[10] Sinani scored three goals for Luxembourg during their 2018–19 UEFA Nations League D campaign.[3]
