Daniel Holloway (born 21 May 1987 in Morgan Hill, California) is an American cyclist[1] who specializes in criteriums and Six Day racing on the track.

Early life & Junior

Holloway was born on May 21, 1987 and began as a speed skater. He began cycling as practice for speed skating in the summer. His racing career began on the velodrome due to its similarities with the track. Holloway took to cycling winning his first national champion in July 2004 in the Madison.[2]
In 2005 he won his next national title at Junior Track Nationals in the 3 km Pursuit and Team Pursuit.[3]

In 2007 he took his first Criterium National title as an amateur.[4]

Amateur and Professional Career

  • Garmin Chipotle Presented by H30 (2008) - Holloway joined the Garmin/Chipotle Presented by H30 team, also known as Baby Garmin, as a stagiare in 2008. Here won the Team Pursuit, Madison, Points Race and Skratch Race at the 2008 USA Cycling Elite Track Nationals.[5]
  • Felt Holowesko Garmin (2009) - Holloway returned to the renamed team in 2009 to win the 1000m TT and Points Race at the 2009 USA Cycling Elite Track Nationals.[6] Holloway also raced the 2009 UCI Track World Championships in Pruszkow, Poland, March with teammate Colby Pearce, and Taylor Phinney.
  • Bissell Pro Cycling (2010) - Holloway joined the domestic Bissell Pro Cycling Team in 2010 and raced predominately on the road, winning his first Professional National Criterium Championship.
  • Kelly Benefits Strategies Pro Cycling (2011) - Holloway joined the UCI Conti team further focusing on road racing with a specialty in criteriums.
  • Team Raleigh-GAC (2012) - 2012 USA Cycling Elite Track Nationals Scratch Race Champion
  • Amore & Vita and Mikes Bikes (2013)[7]
  • Athlete Octane (2014) - Holloway returned to domestic racing as an amateur, winning a record setting 21 races along with the National Criterium Championship.
  • Alto Velo p/b Seasucker (2015) - Named the Crit King, Holloway ended the 2015 season with 26 wins and another National Criterium Championship title.
