The Down Democrat was a weekly tabloid newspaper based in Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland. It was published by Thomas Crosbie Holdings.

It was one of the fastest growing newspapers in Northern Ireland and was also Newspaper of the year in Northern Ireland during 2001. Its circulation area was east Down.[1] It had substantial sports and community coverage. It has been closed down.[citation needed]
