Adia Sowho is a Nigerian technology executive known for her roles in the technology sector in emerging markets.[1] She was known as the first female Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Nigeria; a role she departed in June 2024.[2]
Professional Life
[edit]Adia Sowho was the Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Nigeria, contributing to the launch of the company's 5G network.[3] She was Vice President of Growth and Managing Director for Nigeria at Migo (formerly Mines.io)[4], a digital credit company offering instant loans to Nigerians[5]. Before her time at Migo, Sowho was the Director of Digital Business at 9mobile (formerly Etisalat Nigeria)[6]. As the Chief Executive Officer of Thrive Agric[7], she led the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, facilitating a pre-series A funding round and increasing revenue.[8]
Education
[edit]Adia Sowho holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, with majors in Strategy, Analytical Consulting, Strategic Marketing, and Entrepreneurship.[9] She has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and consulting industries, with previous positions at The U.S. Cellular Corporation, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and Etisalat Nigeria.[10]
Other Roles
[edit]Sowho is an angel investor and advisor, serving on the boards of Sankore Investments, Hover,[11] and others. She has engaged in public speaking, mentoring, and pro-bono advisory roles in the African tech ecosystem.[12]
