Draft:Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice is a collective of Italian artists who create musical projects that combine different fields of interest and themes, often scientific, philosophical, or social.[1][2]

Their experimental musical projects, which combine rock, pop, and electronic music,[3] draw inspiration from various sources, such as science fiction, literature, art, and cinema.[4]

The collective was founded by Andrea Pizzo, a software engineer who is the group lead vocalist and music composer, and Raffaella Turbino, the group songwriter and painter. The other members are Riccardo Morello, a singer and composer, and Roberto Tiranti,[5] a singer, musician, and musical producer. Maria Elena Pizzo is the group consultant. These artists often cooperate with other artists and friends.[6]

The project began in 2019 when Andrea Pizzo and Raffaella Turbino started to write songs, later incorporated into a concept album inspired by science, technology, and space exploration, Potatoes on Mars.[7][8][9][10] The album, released in 2022,[11][12] features 11 tracks, each with a different musical style, from rock to pop to electronic.[13]

The group is currently working on their second album, Transhumanity, dedicated to the ever-evolving relationship between humans and technology, paying homage to some visionary inventors whose creations have shaped our world.[14]

Released on EP with "The Boys of Silicon Valley",[15] the track "Ada"[16][17] is a tribute to Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer. "Bombshell"[18][19] is dedicated to Hedy Lamarr, a famous inventor and actress, and "The Machine" explores the complex relationship between humans and artificial intelligence and robotics.[20][21]

The songs, broadcast on various radios,[22][23] received positive reviews.[24][1][22][25][26]

The group also uses social media and YouTube to interact with music lovers and share their creative process.[27]
